Many people think it is nearly impossible for them to have a healthy lifestyle, but it really isn't. It is way easier than you think.

1. Change your mindset

Many people think being healthy is hard and takes too much effort, but it doesn't. Think positive and tell yourself “I can do this”. Stay focused on becoming a better you. Not because you hate who you are, but because you love who you are and want to better yourself.

2. Eat more veggies

Yes I know you love your carbs and you do not want to switch your pasta for a salad. But let me tell you something, you can still have your pasta and still be healthy. Instead of having a bowl filled with pasta, only fill ⅓ of the bowl with pasta and the rest with broccoli, tomatoes or any other veggies. Make sure you eat at least one hand full of veggies a day. Try to make your plate more colorful.

3. Exercise daily

Many people feel that to exercise you need to be “fit” but you do not. Try going for a 20 minute fast walk, then maybe even start running. You can go on youtube and look up all different types of workout. Just try at least to be active for 30 minutes daily.

4. Get a good night sleep

Try to get 8-9 hours of sleep. Start going to bed earlier, put down your phone and turn off the TV a little bit earlier and trust me you will feel nice and refreshed the next day. Also start trying to wake up a bit earlier, don't sleep-in, try waking up at 8 and you will feel more energized because you have the whole day to get stuff done.

5. Eat more protein

Try having a hand size portion of protein at each meal. Start adding a piece of grilled chicken to each meal. For breakfast start making eggs, for lunch have a salad with some tofu or chicken, for dinner have your favorite meat or plant based protein with some roasted veggies.

6. Keep track of your calories

Get an app where you can track your food and exercise. I recommend lifesum, it is so easy you can even scan the barcodes of the food you just ate. Every time after a meal or snack log it. After an exercise put what you did and for how long. This is one of the best ways to make sure you are eating the right amount of protein, not too many carbs and keeping a balanced diet.

7. Have cheat days

It is hard to keep a healthy lifestyle, so you need a cheat day. Pick one day a week where you can “cheat”. A cheat day is where you can let yourself eat the junk you have been craving, but just make sure you don't overload on all those sugar treats. For breakfast have those pancakes you have been wanting all week, but for lunch keep it to a salad, and for dinner have that pasta or pizza.

I know It may be a lot, but take it one step at a time and sooner than later you will be living your best life.
